El Amo (Master)
El Amo es el más Joven de los Siete Ancianos (Strigoi) Originales llamados los Antiguos. Él es responsable de llevar el Brote y el Caos a la ciudad de Nueva York, y su posterior Expansión por todo el País y por todo el Mundo.
Apariencia Física
En el momento de su llegada a Nueva York, él estaba habitando el cuerpo de Jusef Sardu, un Noble Polaco del Siglo 19 aquejado de gigantismo (Una enfermedad que causa el exceso de producción de hormonas de crecimiento, lo que deja a la Persona con una Altura superior a los 2 Metros y Medio). Esto (Visto y Explicado en el Episodio 2×01) explicaba su Físico intimidante y su Altura.
Aparte de su Estatura, conserva los rasgos que se encuentran en cualquier Strigoi. Desde el largo Aguijón de seis pies utilizado para transferir el Brote y la Infección, a la falta de una nariz, teniendo dedos arañados y ausencia de Pelo en la Piel. Además, los Strigoi no tienen más de un Sexo (Hombres y Mujeres son Iguales por dentro, sólo cambia su Apariencia Externa).
Según las Novelas en las que se basa la Serie, El Amo se deja ver entre los seres humanos por primera vez en el Siglo 28 Antes de Cristo. A lo largo de sus milenios por la tierra, sin duda, ha asumido muchas más formas (Cuerpos), incluyendo varios pueblos indígenas de las Américas en la antigüedad antes de cruzar a la Europa del Viejo Mundo para unirse a los otros Ancianos Antiguos.
Sus Poderes
Hay varios poderes que hacen alusión a estar reservados para los Strigoi Originales, uno de los cuales, insinuado por Setrakian, es que tiene la capacidad de ver a través de los ojos de todos los Strigoi que están por debajo de él (Quienes han sido Convertidos).
Otra es su increíble fuerza. Mientras que muchos de los infectados mantienen el cuerpo que tenían en sus vidas anteriores, con la fuerza de entonces, los Strioi Originales tienen la capacidad de aplicar tanto esfuerzo a presión en el cuello como para aplastar el cráneo de un hombre adulto.
También se ha demostrado que puede, por falta de un término mejor, «Abrir y Cerrar» a través de las Sombras, es decir, que aparece de la nada y desaparece en menos de una décima de Segundo… Es imposible dar con él físicamente, a no ser que este quiera.
En consonancia con el final de la Primera Temporada, se ha demostrado que es algo resistente a los efectos mortales del Sol, ya que él fue capaz de sobrevivir mucho más tiempo en la luz del Sol lo que lo haría cualquier Strigoi, eso sí, no es Inmune ni a la Plata ni al Sol, son sus Puntos Débiles.
Asunción de un Nuevo Huésped
Setrakian declaró que no sabía que era capaz de sobrevivir a la exposición prolongada de la Luz Solar, lo que lleva a su aceptación de que El Amo no era de esta tierra. Setrakian no entendía la naturaleza de otro mundo de los Strigoi Antiguos (Los Ancianos) y siempre trató al Amo como una criatura terrenal (Incluso como una Aberración de ‘Dios’), confundiendo el cuerpo del anfitrión del Amo por su verdadero cuerpo y su esencia.
Se hizo evidente que se necesitan métodos más potentes para derrotar al Amo, que es capaz de sobrevivir con que tan solo uno de sus pequeños Gusanos siga vivo, como pudimos comprobar en el Episodio 3×03, cuando Quinlan decapita al Amo en el Cuerpo de Bolívar, pero escapa uno de sus Gusanos y consigue sobrevivir en otro Cuerpo Temporal hasta ocupar el de Palmer.
Ayudantes del Amo
A lo largo de la serie, gana adeptos para que le ayuden con las promesas que sólo él puede cumplir, como la inmortalidad. Uno de sus lugartenientes más cercanos, Thomas Eichhorst, en general, es la manifestación física responsable de llevar a cabo muchas de sus órdenes. Es a través de él como recluta a otros Ayudantes.
Es así como consigue la ayuda de Eldritch Palmer, un multimillonario que, a cambio de la inmortalidad que El Amo le puede dar, le Ayuda a llevar a cabo su Plan en Nueva York, con los Recursos y Dinero de los que dispone.
El ascenso del Strigoi
Desde el Eclipse Solar, El Amo y sus secuaces han endurecido su control sobre la Ciudad de Nueva York, que es solamente el primer paso en el plan del Amo para la dominación global. No hay una sola cosa de que lo hace en sus Planes que no incluya la previsión y cálculo. La única razón por la que él tuvo éxito hasta ahora, es que es capaz de aprovecharse de las debilidades humanas tales como la vanidad y la codicia.
The Master is a main character and the «youngest» of the seven original vampires called the Ancients. He is responsible for bringing an evil strain of vampirism to New York City. He serves as the main antagonist in The Strain.
Physical Appearance
By the time of his arrival in New York, he was inhabiting the body of Jusef Sardu, a Polish nobleman from the 19th century afflicted with gigantism (A disease causing over-production of growth hormones, resulting in an adult human to be well over seven or eight feet.) This explains his intimidating physique and height.
Apart from his stature, he retains the traits found in lesser strigoi. From the six-foot long apparatus used to transfer the disease, to the lack of a nose, clawed fingers, and sallow, hairless skin.
The comic version of ‘The Night Eternal’ depicts the earliest date of the Master manifesting among humans as the 28th century BCE. He was first documented as Thrax, a 15 year old Roman slave (and the reason he no longer uses young human bodies as host), then a short but strong legionnaire named Tacitus and a tall pale iron-worker.
These are the Master’s host of note mentioned in the trilogy, although throughout his millennia of walking the earth has undoubtedly assumed many more forms, including various indigenous peoples from the Americas in antiquity whence he gave rise to wendigo lore before crossing over into the Old World to join the other Ancients.
Powers
There are several powers that are hinted to be reserved for only the original vampires, one of which, hinted at by Setrakian, is that he has the capacity to see through the eyes of all lesser strigoi. Another is his amazing strength. While many of the infected retain the physique they had in their former lives, he has the ability to both effortlessly snap a neck or smash in a grown man’s skull.
It’s also been shown that he can, for lack of a better term, «blink» through the shadows. Appearing from seemingly nowhere and just as easily disappearing, it’s impossible to physically track him. Consistent with the Season 1 finale, «The Master», he has demonstrated that he is somewhat resistant to the sun’s deadly effects, since he was able to survive much longer in the sunlight than would a regular strigoi.
Assumption of the New Host
Setrakian himself stated he did not know he was capable of surviving extended exposure to sunlight, leading to his dreaded acceptance, at the end of Book 1 of the trilogy, that the Master was not of this earth.
Setrakian did not understand the other-worldly nature of the Ancients and treated the Master as an earthly creature – even if an aberration – mistaking the host body the Master inhabited for his actual body and essence. It became clear that more powerful and occult methods would be needed to defeat the Master.
Helpers of The Master
Throughout the series, he gains followers to assist him with promises only he can fulfill, such as immortality. One of his closest lieutenants, Thomas Eichhorst, is generally the physical manifestation responsible for carrying out many of his orders. It is through him he recruits his other helpers.
In promising Eldritch Palmer, a successful billionaire, immortality, he has gained virtually limitless wealth and resources for his «New Order.» Through his contacts and infrastructure, he is able to gain the help of other mortals.
Ascendancy of The Strigoi
Ever since the solar eclipse, the Master and his minions have tightened their grip on the City of New York, which is only step one in Master’s plan for global domination.
There is not one thing that he does in his machinations that does not involve forethought and calculation: 1) Catastrophic failure of the Public Internet 2) Transport of his casket to midtown Manhattan, crossroads of the world 3) Alliance to Eldritch Palmer 4) Attempted acquisition of the Occido Lumens 5) Transfer of his consciousness to the host Bolivar 6) Mass Murder of city’s high-level financial executives which led to the run on the banks and the hoarding of precious metals (especially silver, the bane of vampires). 7) Build-out of the massive processing plants for the extraction of human blood.
The only reason that he succeeded so far, is that he is able to prey on such human weaknesses as vanity and greed.
